This event helps teens get prepared for prom and graduation. During the one day shopping boutique, teens get an opportunity to select from a beautiful array of gowns and formalwear that is provided through community contributions. Also teens are pampered by make-up artists and skin care professionals.

The Books for Kids program promotes family reading and provides books to the homes of the children CFSA serves. Friends of George Mason & Tyson‘s Pimmit Regional Library and Friends of the Reston Regional Library are major contributors.

Annual Teen Fashion & Talent Show

Every year CFSA youth dazzle and entertain with a brimming audience of over 250 people with their style, talent and charisma during CFSA’s Youth Fashion & Talent Show. The show was the brainchild of CFSA’s youth who wanted to celebrate prom/graduation and exhibit their talents.

Signature Events/Initiatives

Project College Bound

Project College Bound collects college tool kits complete with a computer, linens, electronics, and toiletries for CFSA youth entering college. St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Crowell & Moring LLP, Carrie Anne Barrows and Davis Wright Tremain LLP are major contributors. 

Our Annual Coat Drive collects new or cleaned coats for children and families in need. All sizes are needed including infants, toddlers, children, teens, and adults.

The Holiday Food Basket Drive collects food baskets and grocery gift cards to support families in need during the holidays. Welton Belches and Samantha Hawkins, Project Give-Back, are major contributors.

The Angel Tree-Holiday Toy Drive provides an opportunity to brighten the lives of children and youth in foster care via the donation of toys or family sponsorships during the winter holidays. Holiday Food Basket Drive
Angel Tree-Holiday Toy Drive 

The Duffle Bags/Luggage for Kids campaign allows children and youth entering foster care to make a difficult move with their personal belongings intact. The National Recognizance Office has been instrumental in providing luggage that, in turn, has helped scores of children and youth maintain some sense of order during a disruptive time in their lives. 

A Hand-Up for Youth collects items such as sheets, towels, shower curtains, dishes, pots, pans, silverware, and monetary donations to help youth who must leave the child welfare system at the age of 21. 

Project Prom, Graduation and Career

The Backpack and School Supplies Drive occurs at the beginning of every school year. CFSA collects generous donations of hundreds of backpacks and monetary gifts to help children in care get ready for school. 

PFK hosts a number of signature events and creates new initiatives annually that benefit children and youth in care. The wide array of events and initiatives supports the 3000+ youth in foster care in Washington, DC.
