Holiday Food Basket Drive

Thanks to the generosity of PFK’s donors, volunteers and colleagues the 2013 Holiday Campaign was highly successful! The drive kicked off November 25th, 2013 at the Project Harvest Food Basket Give-Away located in CFSA’s 2nd Floor Distribution Area. The agency was able to serve hundreds of children, youth and families who received food baskets for Thanksgiving. For many years, CFSA, with your help, has provided Thanksgiving baskets to thousands of families so they, too, can make a traditional Thanksgiving meal to share with their families. A number of our families had their baskets hand delivered to their home by donors. We can only do this because every year people like you…families, businesses and organizations from throughout the community have pulled out the stops and contributed tremendous amounts of food/gift cards to buy food and time to help us organize and distribute it all. A special thank you is deserved to Ms. Eunice Spence who has been the lead of the Holiday Food Basket Campaign for years.

Holiday Toy Drive

The success of the Holiday Food Basket Campaign was later matched with PFK’s biggest and most popular campaign of the year, The Holiday Toy Drive. Through the generous donations of our donors we were able to collect and distribute over 4000 toys to the children and youth that CFSA serves. “Santa’s Workshop and Helpers” as we like to call it, were all on board in order to make sure that our children and youth experienced a warm Holiday filled with joy and love. PFK had a number of volunteers and staff that helped things run smoothly.

Now that our 2013 Holiday Drive is over we would like to say THANK YOU to ALL the donors, volunteers and staff who supported the agency for the 2013 Holiday Drive. Your generosity was greatly appreciated and we look forward to partnering again for the 2014 Holiday season.

Holiday Highlights!

There were a number of highlights during the Holiday Season were volunteers really came through to assist the PFK team with collection and distribution. In particular, the team would like to thank some key people. First, a thank you is owed  to the Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. who volunteered with receiving and organizing thousands of toys. We also had a star in our colleague, Victoria Lawson, who helped organize 1000+ pajamas that were donated to the team to distribute with toys for the Holiday Drive. We have to give a big thank you to our 3 youth volunteers, Anthony, Nataly and Amy from the Office of Youth Empowerment. These young people serve as Youth Ambassadors for the agency were they frequently volunteer and advocate for foster youth in CFSA’s care. Lastly, PFK wants to again thank Kathleen Jackson aka "The Pajama Lady" who started a very creative holiday initiative in support of CFSA’s holiday drive. Ms. Jackson is a wonderful woman who is an adoptive parent. And this last holiday season, she collected a whopping 1,200+ pajamas for CFSA!
